What is a student clubs portal?
A student clubs portal is where students sign up and ask to join clubs, club officers approve each join request, and members share a directory and one events calendar. It follows the Directory pattern: who belongs, their profiles and sign-ups. Pory generates it from a plain-English description, with a login for each role (student and club officer) that shows only what that role should see, and flat pricing with unlimited students.
What it does
Students sign themselves up at freshers' fair, not on a paper sheet
Freshers' fair sign-ups went on paper sheets, and half the email addresses were unreadable by Monday. In Pory a student creates their own account, lands in the student role, and asks to join the clubs they want from there. Club officers stop typing up smudged sign-up sheets on a Sunday night.
Club members see who else joined, by name, face and club
Meeting your own club meant a group chat full of phone numbers with no names attached. In Pory members browse a directory of fellow students with each person's photo and club, so the person on the next rope at the bouldering taster has a name. Nobody spends a term calling someone "the tall one from Film Soc".

Club events were announced across four Instagram accounts and a noticeboard by the union bar. In Pory officers add each taster, debate and film night to one calendar, coloured by club, and students open any date for the time and room. Clashes between film night and the open debate get spotted before the posters go up.

Join requests arrived as DMs to whichever officer the student happened to know, so some sat unanswered for weeks. In Pory every request lands as a card with the student's year and why they want in, and an officer approves or declines it, adding a note when it's a no. Nobody discovers in November that their request vanished.

A portal runs a program, a service, or a process. These jobs belong to tools built for them, and Pory keeps the records around them instead.
